I didn't mean to confuse you Dazzer - more to point out the the whole thing is confusing. I agree with Eric, as far as I know, there is no run time version of MapPoint 2004. The link above that reference is a Microsoft authored article on how to build a stand-alone install. I assume that means this type of install expects an existing install of MP2004.

Depending on the size of your organization volume licensing options do exist.

Too bad someone from Microsoft would clear this up for us all.
