GPS used frequency is very high and start to behave more and more the direction like light. If you are under trees, receiption will be very bad. Under the ground (celler, tunnel / water / ...) it is completely zero (except in american films
)
So in a wood you will have bad reception, higher HDOP, many times no GPS at all etc. But it will be usable...
