Hi Cabbage,

This topic does seem to rear its ugly head regularly on here!

My experience is that the Spatial Data Import routine is mighty flakey but can be persuaded to work as long as the files are in the right format.

I have a question (for Eric maybe - or someone who knows lots about the other GIS systems out there such as ESRI) - I think I've sussed out that the SDI Add-In can only cope with data in WGS84 format. My problem is that nearly all the data I'm likely to come across is from Local Government departments here in the UK and is therefore most likely to be in OSGB 1936 format.

I've had success with MapInfo data (MID/MIF) once I've asked the right questions but I can't seem to get through to the ESRI users that I want the stuff in WGS84. When ESRI shapefiles are produced, is there a parameter that can be set so as to produce them with WGS84 rather than OSGB 1936? Not being familiar with the relevant software means I can't categorically tell them it can be done.

Many thanks in advance...
