VS.Net not recognising MapPoint?

I've got a strange problem here. I'm trying to create a MapPoint Addin using C#.
I have VS 2003 (I have three versions of VS installed that I use - so I'm not inclined to install VS2005 as a fourth!). There are some excellent instructions in Chandu Thota's book for using the Wizard - and I've used these on my XP test machine (currently unavailable - it is on loan).

So I try the instructions on my main dev machine (W2K, VS2003, MP2002-6), and MapPoint doesn't appear in the list for Application Host! As far as I can see, all the others are there - including programs I've never used and probably don't have installed.
I've tried re-registering MapPoint 2006's COM interface with no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Is this a W2K strangeness?

Next job: See if there are any VS2003 patches I'm missing, and then to re-install MP2006 and VS2003.

Richard
