I have a slew of maps that were created by zip code in MapPoint 2004. When I try to open them, I get a message that says the format is no longer supported and to search the help files for more information. I can't find anything that tells me how to convert to the new (2011) format. Does anyone have any suggestions on how this may be done, other than to re-key in every one of the map files?

I would recommend to try to get a copy of MapPoint 2006 or MapPoint 2009 and see if that works. How many files do you have to convert? If it's not many I wouldn't mind to do it for you for free.

Thanks for your offer. I actually have several hundred 2004 maps that represent Franchise territories. Unfortunately, they are business proprietary and I am not able to release them. I will take your suggestion and see if I can track down a copy of MP2006.

I think MSDN subscriptions contain all the versions (back to 2002?) if that helps - maybe you know someone with an MSDN subscription or could buy one.

I could probably script something for you to automate the conversion if you want to hire me, of course I can also sign an NDA
