2009 Mappoint optimize Error in route planner

I have been using MapPoint for 5 years now to set all the routing for my business in (Used Oil collections) with about 400 accounts only in Florida.

In the 2009 version when I try to optimize all of my accounts for setting up the daily route that I exported from excel always comes up with an error (Unable to get directions from "Account 1Blank" to "Account 2Blank". One of these areas may not contain necessary connectors such as ferry routes or main roads. Move one or both of the stops, and try again) I do not cross any bridges or ferries. It always comes up with same error.

I have to revert to MapPoint 2006 to optimize and than use the 2006 file that is optimized to route everything in 2009 version. I believe there is an error in the programing that needs to be updated to avoid this error. Some people will not have the option to use older version to repair this error. Howser

Re: 2009 Mappoint optimize Error in route planner

I would encounter this problem in Florida sometimes (using MapPoint 2004 and MapPoint 2006) when for instance there's a one-way dead end road... you can get in but you can't get out! or vice versa (you can't get in but you can get out). I would also see this problem sometimes in Texas. They are rare cases, but annoying when you encounter them.

Can you figure out which stop is causing the problem?

no I know what you are talking about, but no this is not the issue here. The same route has no problems Optimizing in MP2006. I moved the stops around and retried and even deleted some stops as well, only to have same error over and over. I installed MapPoint 2009 on 3 different machines to see if this would resolve, still same error. I think it is internal and I hope MS fixes this so other Companies won't revert to other Mapping software with GPS support.

The road network data changed between MapPoint 2006 and MapPoint 2009, so although it works in MapPoint 2006, it might not in 2009 since they added street data and changed things (presumably for the better, but not necessarily).

Can you get a smaller set of stops to Optimize?
