New user...PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm new to the MapPoint world, but my boss has very high expectations. Basically, he wants me to learn how to use it so I can show him, without him having to take a class, or learn on his own.
That's beside the point. Basically, here's what I need to know. I have figured out how to use the data in the software, such as showing county names, zip codes, etc. My questions is, can I use more than 1 at a time. Can I split up the state by county and show the 3 digit zip areas on that same map along with the county names? CAN I OVERLAP DATA?
If so, please tell me how...if not, is there a way to show the map by county, then zoom in on that particular area (or click on a county) to show the 3 digit zips in that county? I've got the very basic stuff down, but I need some help with the more advanced stuff. Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
