    MaplePoint.exe

All functions (except GPS, which I wasn't able to test) worked correctly on a Windows 2000 machine. I do not have Visual Basic 6 or Visual Basic runtime installed on this computer - although Office 2000 Developer's Edition is, and of course Map Point.

I have found that some Visual Basic 6 .exes run w/o support - perhaps your's is one of them?

    wParams

How did you discover the wParam values that you define in MapPoint.cls?

For example, in Class_Initialize, you create the constant "MapPointMenu.mnuTools.cmdOptions = -35338", and then later, after finding the ActiveX Control's window, you use the SendMessageLong_API function to send that window a WM_COMMAND type message: MapPointMenu.mnuTools.cmdOptions. This is really interesting, and new to me, and a technique that could be used in other contexts: but first I am going to have to know how to find valid wParam arguments for the SendMessageLong_API function.

    Hi Baal,

    I just downloaded
    http://www3.sympatico.ca/spavlov/maplepoint.zip
    and ran the .exe file:
Error message says s. th. like: Northamerica not installed

I do have the Europe version. Everywhere where in the code is written MapNothamerica must be written mapEurope.

If you change that I would be glad to test the app!

    Thanks Peter:

    Download it again.
    NorthAmerica runs MaplePoint_NA.exe, Europe - MaplePoint_EUR.exe

    Bob:

I will soon make an article explaining the details you'd like to know. It will
appear in Articles section rather then in the discussion.

    One more:
I am asking you to test GPS->Receiver Settings command again. It does
not matter if you lack the receiver itself. If you've got any of COM ports,
the command will show you the configuration dialog. Will it? If not, then
does it make the whole program unstable? Like freezing, refusing to
    shutdown properly, etc.

Thank you very much for your help!
    Sergiy.

    GPS Functions

After adding a COM port, I tested the "Track Position" and "Receiver Settings...", and they worked fine. The "Always Show Position" and "Sensor" functions didn't appear to do anything, but of course I do not have a GPS receiver attached.

If you would like someone to read you article (and offer constructive criticism) before you publish it, I would be glad to do that.
