Hi all,

I have a need to overlay a vector layer on-top of the map image that is returned from the mappoint web service.

My initial thoughts were to convert the image to a raster for importation into a GIS application which can then overlay the two and output another image for display to a web app.

The image from mappoint web service (.gif) can be converted to .tiff via the .net framework easily. Im assuming I can create a .tiff world file to house the geo-coordinates obtained from the web service (upper left lat/long, lower right lat/long) which can (apparently) be read as a raster by a GIS tool.

Is there an easier way to accomplish this? Has anyone tried this? Anyone have some code samples, anything? Does anyone know of a good (and cheap!) GIS component that will do this?

Many thanks in advance!
