allow the export and overlay of, say, one city of the aerial photos that microsoft already has on terraserver. Obviously you can't store 3,000GB of all aerial maps on one CD.
Then allow that satellite layer to toggle on or off.

This is a discussion on Additional Data in MapPoint 2003 within the Wish List forums, part of the MapPoint Desktop Discussion category; allow the export and overlay of, say, one city of the aerial photos that microsoft already has on terraserver. Obviously ...

I would like to see the data for Iceland updated. The 1998 tunnel under the "Fjord of Whales" is not available yet; so travellers from Reykjavík to Akranes are either directed to the no longer existing ferry, or the long around the fjord.
Just my wish...
It would be really useful if MP 2003 gave acess to a broader range of coloured pushpins (without the time consuming process of creating custom ones!) Also allowing more than 8 sets of data on a multple pushpin map would save me hours spent splitting data in other applications.
seconding an earlier post for the ability to export the lat & Lon data from a specific address. If MapPoint can plot them why can't we get them. this is critical in routing for deliveries and service call indusry as MP's current capabilities are sorley lacking in what seems to me a basic capability.
I would really like the line files from the 2000 census, e.g. cenus, msa defintions per 2000 census, not 1990
I'd prefer Microsoft to finish mapping entirely every country than starting to map some new countries.
Anyways, if I had to add any new countries I'd be interrested in Eastern European countries.

There is a long list of wishes here. Microsoft could never fill this. To fill it they need help, 3D party developers. But 3D party developer can't do very much when the programming interface is extremely limited and crippled. If they can crack the hood (a bit, like other office apps) developers will come like crazy, MapInfo and Arcview are painful to use and expensive, and MS has better integration with other office applications, there is a huge demand going unfilled...microsoft, you are leaving money on the table....![]()
As usual, I nice long featurerequest list from me
- Include house names as well as house numbers - a street full of named houses willjust return the name of the street for all of them
Fix the Swansea/Cork ferry bug
Allow multiple editions to be installed side-by-side and integrate with each other - e.g. NA and Europe installed simultaneously allows you to route-plan from London to Seattle
Allow animated merge mapping - for data that changes with time
Add more places of interest - I currently can't find the Royal Festival Hall in London (despite the fact that in the locality, I can find three ATMs)
Ability to show/hide houses, so you don't have to guess where to click
Ability to zoom in further
Integration with MapPoint.net online to get up-to-date maps and/or satellite photos
That's all I can think of for now...[/list]
I would like to know where I can get detailed maps from Brazil to MS-MapPoint 2002/2004![]()
Australia/New Zealand
and Serbia as well
