ADO Recordset Import?

I've been reading the posts and articles and I believe I have the answer to my question but I'm having a hard time swallowing it! I am evaluating the trial version of MP for possible use with our app (VB6 app with an Oracle 8i DB).

Is it correct that I cannot import an ADO recordset directly into MP?

I saw an article about creating pushpins from a recordset but that seems like a lot of effort and has some significant limitations. I suppose the recordset could be exported to an acceptable file format and then imported but that seems like a crazy way to do it. Am I missing the obvious? Are there known workarounds or other solutions?

Thanks,

Chad

Chad,

Look in the help file for "ImportData method"

Also on that page of the help there is a link to:"DataSourceMoniker syntax" Notice one of the file types is UDL.

Create a UDL file and use the MS OLE DB Provider for Oracle.

Oracle UDL Linking Problem

Hi,

I find troubles linking MapPoint to my Oracle 8i DataBase. I've created the UDL file. Then, I double-click on it, I set the DataSource attributes and the connection test is OK. I return to MapPoint, I select Data > Link Data, I choose the UDL file created before, a new window ask me for the table to import data from. When I click on the table, an error window tells me something like : "An error has been generated opening : C\mydirectory\mydatasource.udl, MYTABLE". Not very explicit!.

Anybody has any idea?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Miguel.

The correct syntax for the LinkData method is LinkData "Filename.udl!TableName"
