About LinkBacksAs good as Mappoint is I am finding it very restrictive when trying to obtain the output that I require.
Can anyone suggest any other applications that will do what mappoint does but allow more editing of the map such as placename removal?

Can anyone suggest any other applications that will do what mappoint does but allow more editing of the map such as placename removal?

Black Belt use a full-blown GIS such as ESRI ArcView (and al.) = expensive
or smaller GIS tools such as Manifold
If you prefer free tools, use GRASS
