There aren't any bug fixes or updates besides the construction updates.. Start at Help | About | Tech Support, I think if you tell them you want to confirm or report a bug they will not charge you or at least will tell you where to go to report it.. You might also try mswish@microsoft.com

Tried that - the search for "report a bug" pushed me towards sendinf feedback on the maps. Presumably more commonly used for misspelt names etc.
I tried this and have heard nothing - not even an automated "thank you".
Probably better that mswish@microsoft.com would be ski_uphill@microsoft.com or straight_in_the_bin@microsoft.com.
Anyway of
a) finding out if this is an acknowledged bug
b) if it's fixed in 2004. No point upgrading if they can't fix the problems that currently exist.
What is the bug? Maybe someone in here is familiar with it or a workaround.. Eric

It seems I'm not alone in noticing it - have found a few references in the forum.
The location of directions in a route are only correct when there is simply a start and end point. Add a waypoint and the locations of the directions after the waypoint are all over the shop. It also seems to only be the case when going south - north.
This applies to the COM object interface when doing an add-in.
Only work around suggested by someone from the forum (memory terrible but he will know who he is) is that you make a copy of the waypoints into memory. And then basically recreate the route using only start & end points between the various original wayponts iteratively and thus derive the required overall set of direction locations that way (not sure that I have explained that too well, but here's hoping).
Any more enlightened ideas, please post.
Thanks
