Anyone want to buy a full GPS-GSM vehicle tracking system?

    Hi,
I have designed and built a state of the art GPS-GSM object tracking system including PC software using MapPoint 2002/4, its less than the size of a cigarette packet.

My problem is I'm no sales man and have been let down by people saying "if you make it we will sell it" (they ran off with the cash!)

Anyway I have thrown a web page together so go take a look.

    http://www.gpstracker.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

It currently is configued for fleet management and security but any extra features or applications can be accommodated easily as the platform is very modular.

    Thanks

    Stephen Carr

    Looks cool.

You're app and device look pretty cool.

One thing struck me as odd in reading your home page. It looks like you're marketing to the paranoid people.
(As opposed to making it sound like something people can't live without. Like "So, you just ordered flowers for mum and you want to know when they will arrive? Well, as a florist, you can now track the location of your delivery person!" Improve customer service! Happier Customers! The GPS Tracker is an affordable system for you!")

Okay, so I'm not a salesman either. But it's my 2 cents about what jumped out at me when I first loaded your page.

(I'm curious how you built the GPS, which is why I looked in the first place.)

    the real world

I had a quick look at your website and your product, the software looks good, the hardware OK.

I think you have discovered the problem with tracking solutions, whilst everyone wants them, not many people actually buy them.

How are you dealing with the licence restrictions of MapPoint 2004 in terms of each and every vehicle needing a full MapPoint licence? or have you placed a time dealy in to the software to make the display non real time?

    Chris

If anyone is looking to buy a full GPS vehicle tracking/recovery system they should check out the Millenium Plus device. I saw it on Discovery Channel's show "It Takes a Thief". If you haven't seen the show it is hosted by two professional bugglars.
They will break into your home, while you watch how easy it is to steal your stuff, including your car. Then after the initial shock of being robbed is videotaped, they tell you of ways to protect yourself from thiefs. The proffesional bugglars recommend this device and footage can been seen here chicagoezgps.com
There are other benifits that are of particular interest to fleet managers such as establishing route boundries, delivery tracking, remote door lock unlock, starter enable disable, tracking of routine maintenence schedules, monitor speed thresholds and many more.
You can easily install this device covertly as well to monitor your employees without them knowing. This also helps to keep tabs on your teen drivers with the family car. You could log on to they internet from your wb enabled phone and see how fast your son drove your Corvette. You can finally see if were he says he is going...he actually goes.
I bought several units for my company vehicles and they are the only company that has pooled access. That allows me to access all my company vehicles (16) with one monthly monitoring fee instead of 16 seperate monitoring plans for each device.
Overall an excellent product with excellent customer service and of course maps. They are one of the few that allow you to locate with maps and photos. Check them out here chicagoezgps.com

Re: Anyone want to buy a full GPS-GSM vehicle tracking system?

There is another great vehicle GPS tracking system out there called FieldLogix. It is an awesome tracking device with state-of-the-art fleet management features. There's some great demo videos on the website.
The most user friendly real-time vehicle tracking features

    • Real-time vehicle location: Always stay on top of what your drivers are doing by viewing their current locations, speeds, jobsites, ignition status and more.
    • User-Friendly Maps: Our Google maps are the most user-friendly in the market. You can save favorite map views, view real-time traffic, view satellite images, and watch your vehicles as they move throughout the day.
    • Google Street View: If you are wondering where your vehicles are parked, you can view their location in Google street view mode.
    • Tag Suspicious Locations Simple "click to create" process for tagging suspicious locations as restricted zones. Receive alerts when the vehicle exit or re-enter the locations.
    • Group Vehicles: Break up your vehicles by division or job function.
    • Setup Unlimited Landmarks: Set up custom-shaped landmarks for your customers or company locations to be displayed on maps. The system documents entry and exit times and you can use this information for verifying time spent on your jobs.
    • Closest Vehicle: If you want to dispatch a vehicle to a new job, you can easily enter the job's address to determine which vehicles are closest.
