Avoiding Low Weight Bridges

I am tring to avoid the low weight bridges in a tri-county area for the Department of Transportation and when I highlight the area of the low weight bridge and tell it to avoid it, it still goes over the bridge. I can't make it avoid the area. Does anyone know of a solution of fix for this?

The Avoid Area functionality only works on road junctions.
So if there's a low weight bridge, you need to avoid the entire road segment - ie. the Avoid Area has to cover one or both road junctions at either end.

Yes this can be difficult, for example it is perfectly legitimate in the real world, for your heavy truck to pass through one of those junctions, but not turn on to the road with the restricted bridge. The above solution would also stop these routes.
