    Baby Name Mapper

The "Baby Name Wizard" site hosts a "Name Mapper" which lets you see the geographical history of a name.. or the frequency by state of newborns being given names within the U.S. Pretty nifty!

I tried it with my daughter's names and there were some glitches. The Name Mapper engine does not load in IE on my laptop.. the map is Java-based. However it does load in Firefox on my laptop. I don't have a problem on any other machines.

Also, apparently no one was named Lydia prior to 1995.. somehow I doubt that.

I take it back that it was a glitch.. it says Lydia was not in the top 100 prior to 1993 when it became the #95 most popular name in Delaware.. the name slowly became in the top 100 in several states over the next decade and a half.

Interesting how "Eric" started declining in popularity just as I was entering elementary school. I hope I didn't have any effect!

"Elizabeth" (my other daughter's name) has always been popular everywhere.
