Basic question

Hello,

We're new to Mappoint -- just picked up MP 2006. We'd like to map the territories of our company's 20 distributors. We've had no trouble importing our distributors' geographic locations from an Excel document, but the map created only shows splatters of color where the zip codes are. Is there any way to create a nice, clean map that would "fill-in" the spaces bewteen these zip codes, since they are technically part of the route?

I've checked this forum and Mappoint Help and can't seem to find the solution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Basic question

Can you post a screenshot or attachment to illustrate the issue?

How bad would it be to figure out the zip code and fill them into the source data set before importing to MapPoint?

Re: Basic question

Thanks for the reply, Eric.

My map is on the left ... I want it to look like the one on the right. I can't believe that I'd have to enter every zip code in between the plotted points in order to have these areas shaded with color. The zip codes that have been plotted are locations where we actually service a store. We may not service a store in the neighboring zip code, however, I would like it to be shaded as that distributor's "territory".

Many thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Joe

Re: Basic question

What I would suggest to try to do is map some demographic by zip code, that will bring up all the zip codes on the map.

The using the drawing tools, draw a closed polygon or shape around one of the territories and right click on the shape and do an Export to Excel.

This should give you a complete list of zip codes for that territory.

Let me know if this works.
