Beginner's Help with MapPoint 2006!

Hi all,

First post and am need of some help!

For all the US states, I have them in the following groups -- Green, Yellow, and Red. I am trying to map these states have their corresponding colors be reflected in the map. Is there a easy way to do this?

My first attempt at this, rather than setting each individual state and selecting the color one by one, was to separate the list into their respective 3 groups and to upload them in that manner. Though I still have to manually change their color to red, green, or yellow, it is much easier dealing with a subset of the main list. I was able to successfully load the 1st subset but am not able to add anymore "custom" territories. Is there something I'm missing or can you not have more than one custom territory?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Beginner's Help with MapPoint 2006!

I would recommend to set up a list like this

AK, red
AL, green
AR, yellow
CA, red
... etc.
for all 50 states + 1 for DC

Then use the Import Data Wizard.

I think that will be easier than using Territories.

Re: Beginner's Help with MapPoint 2006!

Thanks so much for your help Eric!

I have successfully uploaded my list of states (in groups by color) into MapPoint. I have been able to add a color schema to the 3 groups of states but am unable to match the colors that I need. One problem that I am still having is that when I go to set the color of my data ranges (yellow, red, and green), I see different options for colors but none that I can manually set myself. For example, I can set colors to green to white, green to yellow, and so forth. I figured out that I can re-position the groups by editing the data range column but I am trying to figure out if it is possible to edit the color schema to fit green, yellow, and red, which I do not see available. Please let me know if this is possible at all or if I have to stick with the color gradient available in the "Format the Shaded Area Map Legend."

Thanks again in advance for any help from posters!!!!!

Re: Beginner's Help with MapPoint 2006!

Oh good point, sorry about that.

Well, then I would recommend to make three separate lists for each of the colors -- and then do three imports and under Number of Ranges, just have one.

Since yellow does not appear at the top of any of the gradients, then for Number of Ranges you would have to do 2.

Hope this makes sense and works for you..

Eric

Makes perfect sense and worked great. Thanks!!

Is there any way to do CBSA mappings as well? I've figure out how to do MSA mappings but am wondering if CBSA is available as well.

Thanks in advance for any help!
