My Past GIS Experience

I have been working on other projects for the last few years, and have not done too much programmaticaly since the early days of the Iraq war- and most of that was Eric's doing, I just came up with the simple algorithms.

Prior to that I had done quite a bit using the MapPoint Control embedded into an Access db. This was actually started from another Eric prject, which tracked Chinese resteraunts. I work with emergency services so I put together an application that was based on all addresses for the community, and a simple form that displayed an MP map centered on the area between the local Fire Department and the house.
Then I started getting fancy. I added some buttons to bring up the quickest route for a fire engine or an ambulance to get there. Then we added in more buttons to get the emergency responders to a choice of hospitals.
I was satisfied with that, and then wrote an article for MapPoint Magazine titled Utilizing MapPoint for Emergency Services

I did add a few more features, such as plotting in evacuation areas for hazardous materials releases. I never really finished it as all I could do was simple circles based on the published guides for fires and toxicity.
One of the things I wanted to do was to integrate the ALOHA application which will generate footprints for the chemicals in play-AND it will factor in weather and time of day variables to plot a plume which will be a little more realistic. In the long run it was not feasible, as the VBA which is used by Access will not work with the C+ libraries from Aloha. So I left that application as it was, and really have done little with it.
MapPoint 2002 has gotten a little old and not even the 2006 version has the newer developements in my area.
