Boundary Example

Posted 3 Weeks Ago at 10:01 AM by Winwaed
Here's a Boundary Example from the dev version of MPSuperShape. This should be released soon, but I am looking for beta testers in the next few days.

Both shapes were drawn automatically by MPSuperShape. The first (the black one) is a boundary on the red flag pushpins. The red shape is the same, but extended by 50 miles.
This extension is for the edges, hence the "pointy end" in the east extends further.

Pushpins can be selected as All Pushpins, a specific Pushpin...

MPMileage v1.1 released + more shape functionality being added to MPSuperShape

Posted 3 Weeks Ago at 01:10 PM by Winwaed
I released v1.1 of MPMileage on Monday. This fixes a number of MapPoint restart problems, gives improved progress statistics, and adds a feature that allows you to select the database rows to process. This avoids the re-computation of routes that were successfully processed during a previous run.

I'm also working on a new version MPSuperShape. I have already improved the KML support, but I am also writing a new shape function that creates a convex "boundary shape" that surrounds...

OpenLayers 2.7 Released

Posted 10-06-2008 at 08:32 PM by Winwaed
OpenLayers 2.7 has been released in the past week:

OpenLayers: Home

This includes support for Virtual Earth v6.* - the previous version only worked with now-discontinued versions of Virtual Earth.

I've just upgraded the EcoMap Costa Rica maps - a very simple upgrade to perform.

Posted 09-15-2008 at 11:41 AM by Winwaed
Do you have a need to classify some pushpins?

I'm looking to writing another article (possibly a two parter) for Eric. Second half will "do something useful". I'm playing with a few ideas, but a program that worked its way through an imported pushpin set and changed pushpin symbols according to imported data fields would be a natural choice - especially if the classification rules were quite complicated.

Do you have some data that you think might be suitable? Let me...

MPMileage is out!

Posted 09-05-2008 at 09:09 AM by Winwaed
I've just released a new product, MPMileage:

MPMileage: Batch calculate mileages with Microsoft MapPoint

MPMileage is a batch route mileage computation tool. Yes that is similar to MileCharter, but whilst MileCharter computes mileage tables and "find closest" calculations, MPMileage computes point-to-point route listings. These can be listed in Access or Excel (other databases will probably be added in the future). Results are written to the database. MPMileage also...
