Question can I program mapinfo??

hello ..
please help me ..
I have a poject "car tracking system"
and I want to use mappoint for my map
but my problem is: I never find map with *.ptm or *.ptt format
I finds only *.tab , *.shp , *.ecw , *.eww ,*.sbx ,*.sbn ,*.shx ,*.prj ,*.lyr ,*.mxd ,*.dbf and *.dat
I'm not sure that all these map format or some of them are data files required to open other map format

I can open only *.tab map with (mapinfo)

now,my question is: can I program mapinfo with visual studio like mappoint??
I finds only few resources about programming mapinfo
if anyone can help me with book or any resource about programming mapinfo with .net

pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease I need it very much

another question,I'm stongly recommended to use mappoint
so,any one have a converter to *.ptm or *.ptt (the format that mappoint open it)..

or

if there is a nother program like mappoint and mapinfo that open the previous format and I can program it please tell me what is it??

pleeeeease help me

Re: can I program mapinfo??

MapPoint has all of the road maps built into the application- you would not need to 'add' maps as they are already there. PTMs are maps that you have data plotted on, and PTTs are basically PTMs used as templates.

What exactly are you trying to add to your project?

Re: can I program mapinfo??

Got it

There is no way to add routeable roads per se into the MapPoint dataset. You could use the drawing tools to draw the roads in, and save that as a PTM.

SHaPe files may be importable using the Spatial Import add-in for MP. Again, they would not be routeable, but your application would still be able to place your marker on the added-in road
