    Canada US Territory Import

Does anyone know how to programmatically add US AND Canadian territories using the Canadian FSA and the first three digits of the Zipcode? I've done a quick test manually with the Territory Wizard, but have not figured out how to do it programmatically.

    Hi,

You can use LinkTerritories or ImportTerritories methods wich does the same as the manual import or link of it.

    Re: Canada US Territory Import

    Hi Wilfried,
I've tried the ImportTerritories Method with both US and Canada data and it discards the US data.

    AxMappointControl1.NewMap(MapPoint.GeoMapRegion.ge oMapNorthAmerica)
    Dim myExcelConn AsString = "CL\blah\blah\CanadaUSTerritoriesExported.xls"
    Dim myMPDS As MapPoint.DataSet
    With AxMappointControl1.ActiveMap.DataSets
    myMPDS = .ImportTerritories(myExcelConn, , , MapPoint.GeoDelimiter.geoDelimiterComma)
    EndWith

    Am I missing something?
    Thanks for the quick reply,
    Pat

    Re: Canada US Territory Import

    Hi,

You specify 4th argument as delimiter and it should be country, see below:

LinkTerritories(DataSourceMoniker, PrimaryKeyField, [ArrayOfFields], [Country], [Delimiter], [ImportFlags])

5th argument should probably bee the default one, and 6the argument you should specify one of the excell things:

    geoImportExcelA1
    geoImportExcelNamedRange
    geoImportExcelR1C1
    geoImportExcelSheet

eventually ored with this one if no headings in first row:
    geoImportFirstRowNotHeadings

    Re: Canada US Territory Import

    Hey Wilfried,
I've tried every which way to Sunday to get this to work programmatically and the bottom line is - the granularity from 3 Digit ZIP Code/Forward Sortation Area is not ganular enough for my requirements, regardless of the fact that combining the two programmatically has been futile. I will probably use the spatial import feature to define the Canadian Territories.
    Thanks for all your help,
    Pat
