I'm test driving MapPoint and have been working with this software only for a few hours. Maybe my question is very simple but I'm not not able to find the answer anywhere. So any help would be really welcome.

I have to build a project that works with Canadian letter carrier walk (LCW)maps. LCW are contained within FSA (Forward Sortation Areas) : they are smaller geographic units. For exemple, in FSA "H2H", you've got 17 LCW.

How can I build territories based on LCW, not FSA ? Is there a workaround ?

I don't know anything about Canadian postal geography, but I do
know you are limited to use of the built-in boundaries MapPoint
gives you for creating territories..

I am also beginning with this product. But I am starting to feel limited because I am discovering it is no possible to work with your own geographies to match your information.

I cannot avoid basemaps. If I cannot avoid them, I think I would not buy the main software. I am still working with the trial version. I need to work with smaller geographies than ZIP codes for my projects in Spain.
I dont dare to feel sure about it, but I have had no response.

If you cannot avoid the basemaps, this product seems to me much more as a Cartography viewer and routes analyzer than a GIS as a whole

Any suggestion?

You are right, it's not GIS software.. it's more like Streets & Trips or AutoRoute with an object model bolted on for automation.
