custom vb.net application using mappoint 2004

Is there a way to use the mappoint 2004 engine and data
with a custom vb.net application?

I know there is distribution licensing and stuff like that -
but for right now - I would like to create my own wrapper for the mappoint 2k4 software

can this be done?

I have done this with MapPoint 2002. I use a datareader to import locations directly from SQL. For MapPoint 2002 I use: Interop.MapPoint.dll to interface with MapPoint. I'm sure that there is something similar for the '04 version.

Code for .net application and mappoint 2002

Is there any way you can post some sample code of how you got the mappoint 2002 integrated with a .net application.
