1) I would like to be able to customize the toolbars and menus just as in all the other Office products. For me as a developer, the toolbar would allow me to build a custom add-in that can be accessed via a custom toolbar rather than the exceptionally clunky modal form we are limited to now. Or at least allow modelss forms.
For example if I wanted to build a tool to work with MapPoint shapes, I would like the user to be able to select individual shapes and simply click a tool to perform an action.
2) A REAL dataset in the development environment would be nice. Right now I can query a MapPoint recordset based on distance but I can't run a simple SQL query against the same MapPoint recordset. I have converted the MapPoint recordset to an ADO recordset to solve this problem in the past but it seems an unneccessary step.
