Directions to a GPS - Locations aren't at road junctions?

In a bid to avoid the usual arguments in the car between my wife & I, I thought I'd just export the MapPoint route to the GPS.
It almost worked (the export not the avoidance of arguments that is).
I approached the problem by iterating the directions collection of the route. For each direction I converted its location to lat & long and away I went.

All seemed to work until I spotted that some of these direction locations are actually in the middle of the leg of the route, but what I really want is the location of the road junction on my route (so I can make the turn!). In any route I have noticed that 10% of the directions seem to come up this way.

Any ideas how to get the location of the turns on a route not the locations of the scarecrow in a field I should be driving around?

Any ideas etc. greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

Export Route

Richard - no answer to your question, I'm afraid, but interested to know how you're exporting the route and importing to your GPS.

Exporting via VB Active X DLL add-in (put's itself on the menu) to a couple of text files. Then using really crappy VB prog I wrote to upload to Magellan 315. Protocol is published on web if you're interested.

I guess I'm going to (sort of) solve it is to make it a double button press operation.
First will go and stick pushpins at all the locations in the directions.
And add these to route, then re-calc route.
Next quick visual by your truly for any pushpins not a junctions.
Next send button press to send pushpins this time to the files.

I did also ponder some sort of vector intersection with current leg & previous leg but gave up as too complicated for evenings at home!
