Display pushpins using Eastings and Northings

I have tried to add pushpins by using eastings and northings (our client GIS sends it that way e.g. 403947 419814 - Ripponden Yorks)

The mappoint wizard (OS Grid ref) seems to be happy taking data this way
However when I try to use the same data to add pushpins from within VB.NET using the following, I get a failure.

AxMappointControl1.ActiveMap.LocationFromOSGridRef erence()

As far as I can determine this doesnt seem to be supported and I may have to convert the easting and northing data to another form.

Is this correct and If so does anyone know of a converter that I can use, or is there another way to use the easing and northing data.

Thanks

Dave

Hi,

No idea if it is a bug or not. Have you tryed with and without spaces ? Have you also the coordinates with letters to try ?

Another approach could be that you calculate the position in lat/long. You have the origin values of the OS grid, the numbers are the distance north / east. Maybe you can do with (or start with) simple triogometry, you maybe have a small dillusion of precision, but could be very small.

Thanks - working fine now, the problem lay elsewhere the error messages were a little misleading.

In my search for converters I found one which worked well and I used it to check the accuracy of my mechanism
