| Displaying Single County http://www.mapping-tools.com/single_state_mapper/index.shtml Make maps of individual states. For various purposes, many users of Microsoft MapPoint would like to cover up neighboring states for their maps in Microsoft MapPoint. This tool allows you to do that. |

Single State Mapper was actually created by Eric Frost (owner of mapforums and mp2kmag) - I (mapping-tools.com) am just a reseller! To create something similar for countries, you would need to have the shape definitions for each country. You could import them from somewhere using one of the SHP tools around (yes we have one - it is called MPSuperShape), but you will probably have to modify some of the coordinate positions, so that the imported shapes matched the MapPoint national boundaries. It would be a lot of work. Richard

| Re: Displaying Single County
Thanks for the info Richard. Actually, I need to do this for county, not country, and just for the state of Massachusetts. Given that, do you have any further recommendations or alternatives for how I would go about this - sounds like MPSuperShape is one option, but not sure of the cost? Would it still be a lot of work given the limited counties I need to set up? |

| Re: Displaying Single County
Sorry, I was reading too quickly! MPSuperShape is $75 and you would still need the county boundaries. It would be quite a bit of work - and I bet Massachusetts doesn't have simple county boundaries! Richard

| Displaying a Single County in MapPoint
I dug out my old importer code that'd I'd used to do the Single State Mapper template and found some free county shape boundaries. I posted in the Plus section because it took a while to prepare and it's a big download (17MB). Don't want spiders and other crawlies to be sucking up bandwidth unnecessarily! http://www.mapforums.com/mapforums-plus-downloads/ I'll put more instructions and screenshots up later, but it's basically the same as the Single State Mapper.. you search for the county to want to display, click in the middle of the screen, and then hit the delete key! Or, if you want a border you can play with it a little bit... click on the Shape, right-click and select Order -> Bring Forward. Then set the Fill to No Fill and set the desired border width and color, see attached. Eric
