Greetings,

Does anyone know how to temporarily display a tool tip, or floating text, when the mouse is over a given symbol or pushpin? I know how to use balloons, but for a congested map, they just get in the way. I'd much rather see them appear when the user's hovering the mouse cursor above it, and see them disappear when the user moves the mouse.

Does anybody know how to do this?

Hi,

Yes you can set the Note or so when the mouse move over it. To know when the mouse move over it you have to install an event handler in OnMouseMove event.

You have to keep an array of all the xy positions of all the pushpins, and in MouseMove you can check if you are nearby or over one of the pushpins. If so you take according action.

Note that you have to optimize this code for speed as thsi event handler is called thousands of times a second.

You could try clicking Tools, Options - then tick the check box against Show Data Tips.
It might be ok for what you need.

How exactly do you capture the Lat/Lon or X/Y coordinates of the pushpin?

Or, is it possible to create a location array and fill that with the pushpin locations? I haven't figured out how to do this either.

Hi,

A pushpin has a Location object. To know the lat/long coordinates of this Location you can use CalcPos routine you find on this forum: http://www.mp2kmag.com/articles.asp?...xtract.lat.lon

To find Lat/Long coordinates from out of X/Y points you can use XYToLocation method.
