| Distance Between Single Client & Mulitple Employees MapPoint (Europe version) I'm pretty new to this MapPoint stuff so would appreciate anyones help on the fastest way of achieving the following. We have a Client table and an Employee table, when we currently book a job for a client we can assign staff to that particular client from a list of all available staff in that region (North, Midlands, South). What we would like to do is before the staff appear is send the Client postcode and each of the Employees postcodes to MapPoint in some way and return the Actual (not as the crow flies), mileage into another field on the employee record so that we can see how far a particular employee is from that client. Thus enabling us to choose the closest Employees, saving on fuel costs etc..... If anyone can help me on this I would be very grateful..Or if it has already been covered and someone can tell me where in the forum it is. Thanks in advance for all your help... Paul Hartland |

If you wanted individual routes on demand, then a little bit of programming could do this. Also, my MileCharter product could find the route distances between a group of clients and a group of employees. First load their locations into MapPoint as two pushpin sets. Then run MileCharter and it will create an Excel spreadsheet of the distances. It can also calculate travel times and route costs (either MapPoint's cost estimation, or a custom rate table from Excel). Details: http://www.mapping-tools.com/milecharter/index.shtml John Meyer also has a mileage calculation tool for MapPoint. Richard

| Multiple locations to one point
I have written an Excel program for a client to do just this. It allows you to put in a single postcode address and returns from a pre-populated mappoint pushpin set the address, distance and drivetime as calculated by mappoint. You can set in the excel tool wether to display mappoint or not when it does the calculations. You can add multiple pushpin sets, for example, if you wanted to change the allocation of only certain jobs to certain employees you can have them as separate puspins and change these in the excel each time. I can adapt the code for you but this would be a chargeable item as it is part of my business. Regards Kieron |
