There is a new MapPoint version planned ( see mappoint 2009 - Google Search ) but Microsoft has not announced any details. Eric

Not even a hint on this from MS? If its in the works, it shows a lack of respect for developers and users that absolutely no info is being provided before hand. But then we've all grown accustomed to that... I suppose we'll know in about 6 weeks. Or the date will come and go quietly, then a new date will be magically provided out of thin air. |

I would recommend to contact them.. maplic@microsoft.com I know they have shown it to some partners, but they are probably under NDA. It's a small product and management has limited resources... I'm sure they have plans to communicate soon... I would expect it will have updated streets and some features previously added to Streets & Trips, but if past versions are any indication there will few if any API changes. Eric

Thanks Eric. I understand the product has a limited customer base, and the focus is more on the Web Service and/or VE. One of these days I'll get around to looking more closely to see if one or the other of those makes sense for my application. Until then, I have a customer with the desktop version that I have to keep happy. He has suggested looking at a couple other (non MS) products, but I have resisted so far as my plate is pretty full, and his budget is limited... I know not to hope for too much in the next version, but keep fingers crossed that I'll be pleasantly surprised when it comes out. Thanks Again, |
