Draw multiple routes with MapPoint 2004?

Hello,
is there a way to draw several routes in one MapPoint 2004 map?
I don't need to calculate the routes, I just want to display different routes with different colors within one map.
Is this possible?

Bye,

MD

Post subject: Draw multiple routes with MapPoint 2004?

The company that I work for is building just such a product for you. It is an add on to MP and among other things it would do what you are asking for with regards to routes. We are looking for beta testers. Please email me if you are interested, at johnwhirl@yahoo.com . if you are not interested in a beta version starting on June 3rd you can download the product for purchase. I will post a link to the product purchase page at that time.

Regards,
John

In the interim, you might check out Chip Pearson's article on Drawing Multiple Routes in the articles section.. that might point the way for you to do what you're seeking.

As I understand Chip Pearson's article, it only merges several routes to one route, but it doesn't draw several independent routes.

The suggested product doesn't expose an API.
Does anyone know a way how to display several routes within one MapPoint map?

Hi,
I had the same problem. I solved it by copying the map to the clipboard and drawing the bitmap on the canvas of my program. Then I can put some layers with tours on the map but only as the crow flies. Have a look at the result at www.free-routing.com

Cheers
Rainer

Re: Draw multiple routes with MapPoint 2004?

We would like to use mappoint to take a set of stops with time constraints. A pickup and a drop off within a given time. Find another pickup and drop off that can be added to the route. Each pickup or drop off will have a specific length of time needed to load or unload the client. There will be constraints for some of the trips (ie, if it has a wheel chair, take away one capacity - instead of six passengers, there will only be room for 5.

We can for example take the results that MP gives us and add the contraints and throw out the results back into the open work for another go around.

Is this just clear as mud (am not a programmer, but have staff of programmers C#.net)

Hi,

Yes this seems clear. What is the question?

Re: Draw multiple routes with MapPoint 2004?

Example:

Client has spread sheet of 600 trips. They need to be geocoded (we do that through an import process. After this we take the trips and group them into manifests. All the trips have a specific pickup time and a drop that can be as early as 45 minutes prior to an appointment or as late as 15 minutes after the appoint. Each van has a capacity, and can have as many as 'x' on the van. The rides are shared. We need to find the trips that will fit on the manifest. I was hoping I could use MP to do this. Perhaps we can, at the very least test the route using MP and decide if the trip fits. I don't know. We have programmers that write in C#.Net and would like to us MP as our mapping software for a lot of things. Vehicle location (several vehicles on one display) is one for example. But this first problem is a bear and we have been working on it for months, using another mapping program.

Hi,

I think this can all be easy done with Mappoint in C#. You can embed MP into a C# application. All points can be geocoded and routes can be calculated. This is all easy done with C#.
