Drawing in MapPoint 2004

Hi - I need to add a boundry to Florida in MapPoint that is 2.5 miles from the coast. Does anyone have any ideas as to whether this is possible? And if it is, how do I go about it? I am new to MapPoint, so am still finding out it's capabilities.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Dingo.

Hi Dingo,

This really is not possible with MapPoint and I don't know of an add-on that does "buffers".

If you need to do spatial analysis of this sort regularly and like MapPoint maps, you might be in the market for MapInfo and Map-In-A-Box. This puts all the nice functionality of MapPoint into the MapInfo application which does all sorts of spatial sql operations such as select within as well as cookie cutter and buffer operations.

Buffer to the coast

Hi Dingo,

What are you tying to do with that buffer?

I am trying to show a shaded area that is a set distance (2.5 or 5 miles etc) from the coast is Florida - The reason is that we do not want to see any business from this area - and by having a line or shaded area at the set parameters will allow us to do this. I have been looking for Lat Long calculations in XL too and am still having no luck.

Thanks

Dingo
