Mappoint 2002, when I type in a certain address, it is not recognized. Mappoint in turn suggests two alternative addresses that are exactly the same. Why does it do this? How can this be avoided, and what is the workaround? I had been using a nearest point close in these exception cases, but we are finding the sometimes the address in the real world is actually miles away from the Mappoint address.

Can you give some examples?

Also, have you tried this with MapPoint 2004 or 2006 to see if it is better? I have not had MapPoint 2002 installed for years, but if you give some examples I can tell you how it behaves with MapPoint 2006.

MapPoint 2006 does the same thing--presenting the same address multiple times as an alternative to the identical address that I've entered.

I can see no pattern to this, other than it happens just before I get really irritated.

MapPoint 2013 still does this.
