MapForums

Each time I startup MapPoint 2004 for the first time (or start Word 2003 and/or Outlook 2003), I get multiple screens of "preparing to install", "configuring MapPoint", "gathering information". This goes on for a while and dominates my CPU.

Is my installation wrong?

I have no idea, but take a look into the windows event logs to see if you find errors over there that might help pointing to the problem.

I have temporarily fixed the problem by uninstalling MapPoint 2004 in preparation for PC Migration.

I had tried this before using Control Panel and Norton SmartSweep monitor, but problem remained (and worse because of missing files, attempts to reinstall despite how many cancels I did.) When I used MapPoint's installation program to uninstalled, sanity has been restored (at least until I try again fresh on my new PC.)
