| Error: Licensing initialisation error has occurred Has anyone seen this with MapPoint 2009? I'm running the MSDN edition - so the license is valid. The error occurs when a C# (.NET 2) program calls MapPoint 2009 in the background. The problem is intermittent. Richard

Richard, it has also happened to a few users of Microsoft Streets & Trips 2009. There has been some feedback from Microsoft posted at Streets and Trips 2009 licensing initialization error

Thanks Marvin. The error code is different, but it sounds like it might be the "licensing database" that is the problem. I don't think it is a corrupt database though - wouldn't this cause the error to occur all the time? I'm working in a multi-threaded environment, so I'm wondering if the database is having trouble with multiple checks at the same time? Richard

Yes I'm doing that You can have two MapPoints on parallel threads opening the same map file. I'm not sure if it works with different map files or not. A lock solves this. I have a working theory involving Close rather than Open. I'm still working on a proper solution, but it looks like you can't start a MapPoint instance whilst one is still closing. Richard
