is there anyway to do a shapequery that ignores specified areas

case in point
I have one central location with 5 drivetime zones outside of it in increasing increments.
zones:
5
10
15
20
25


outside of this I have a set of pushpins

I want to know if there is anyay to do a shape query that will allow me to exclude some of the puspins inside another object.

so if I query 10 minutes I want to exclude the pushpins inside the 5 minute zone.

15 minutes would exclude the puspins inside the 10 minute zone,

etc...

any hints or reccomendations are greatly appreciated. I also want to do this as efficeiently as possible, currently without it the operation takes way too long.

I think you cannot do it within MapPoint, it would need to be external logic in your app.. although you can set an avoidance property on a polygon, that doesn't quite do what you want.
