    Export Address Data

Is it possible to create a pushpin that contains the name and address information from the "place category" in the MapPoint database?

Example: I would like to have a pushpin for every motel that is in my 4 - state sales region. I have already defined my region and eliminated all places shown on the map except for hotels/motels. So now the only thing in "Find nearby places" are hotels and motels. I have manually used copy and paste to create some pushpins during a recent trip but this is not practical for what I need. I trust someone can assist me or educate me on how or if this can be done.

    Re: Export Address Data

I think the best approach would be to write a little bit of excel vba code using FindNearby.
    The method is discussed here

Working with locations and finding places and address in the MapPoint object model

My suggestion would be to manually set up the map showing just the POIs (motels) you’re interested in, then run the code on the active map to output name, latitude, longitude and address of each motel to an excel worksheet. You can then re-import the data to MapPoint as pushpins. A drawback is that I think the maximum radius you can use at any one time with FindNearby is 50miles (80km) so you’d need to iterate across your region and remove duplicates.

If you want to access some existing code to get you started then I think Eric Frost has already developed some that is available via this site to MapForums Plus members.

    Re: Export Address Data

    David,

Thank you for your reply. I am encouraged that there may be a way to accomplish the task of exporting the hotels and motels for my region. However, I am not a coder and do not have the interest or time to learn how and then write the tools to do what you suggest. It would make much more sense for me to hire someone that does this sort of thing with regularity.

    Thanks, David.
Actually, I did develop a method to extract this data.
I'll get right back to you, LockSales.
