I recently installed MapPoint 2004 on one of my systems and it's working fine except for one thing, pushpins that I insert aren't displayed! I select the pushpin tool and click the area I want a pushpin added and nothing is displayed at all. All the other tools work (highlighting etc.), also when I try to open up saved maps that have pushpins from other users the routes are tracked, but the pushpins still aren't displayed. The help article given in MapPoint says this happens when there isn't enough memory, but I have 6 GB free on my system, so I don't think that's it. Any ideas?

Yes, several times. We removed everything we could find from the registry too. Didn't seem to help at all. We installed the software on a different system also and it works fine on that system

Couple things.

The memory they are talking about is probably RAM not hard drive space. I think the 6 GB free you mentioned is hard drive space I'm guessing.

At a DOS or Command prompt type mem or mem /c to see how your RAM is being used and how much is free. If you want to make a text file from the output of the mem command type this (at the dos prompt) mem /c >c:\mem.txt Now you will have a file named mem.txt in the root of your c drive

Can you post a link to the reference you saw about the lack of memory causing this problem?

What operating system are you using? is all software Us version?

Thanks for your help! Yeah, I checked again and there's 600MB available RAM.
The link I was refering to was just the help/index provided in MapPoint 2004 itself, under pushpins it has several common pushpin errors and pushpins not displaying is one of them.
We're running Windows XP Pro with the US version of MapPoint 2004, we're working with a laptop, just to check the memory capacity etc. I took the memory out of a laptop of the same model that is able to run MapPoint without problem and I switched the memory of the two systems. Even with the memory of the other system the pushpins can't be displayed. It must be something installed on the specific system that is conflicting. I tried to uninstall all of the Microsoft components then reinstalling everything including MapPoint, just as a guess and that didn't help either. I've also tried reinstalling the mdac file too, which is commonly suggested, but didn't get any results!

How is memory used in that system ? Checkout (with task manager or with other tools) who is consuming to mutch memory.

I checked out the memory allocation and nothings seems out of place...in the task manager under CPU Usage there's a pretty low percentage even when MapPoint is running

You might to go through and try several different pushpins to see if any of them are working.

But howmutch memory in use / free. What about the non-paged pool ? (I dont know if mappoint uses overlapped IO) I ask because non-paged pool can olny grow liimited. How mutch ram on that system ?

Dont know eahter what is wrong, but as mutch as possible information could workout to some ideas (hopefully)
