Filtering In and Out

Example: I have thousands of QSR (Quick Service Restaraunts) plotted across the state of Texas. Sometimes I just want to look at Mcdonalds and Sonics listed, other times I want to look at Jack in the Box only. So my question is: Is there a way to do this.?

Simply put:
Is there a way we can filter in and out data without deleting it?

Re: Filtering In and Out

You can create a transparent custom icon, and switch that layer to be transparent.. I just did this the other day and I would post it as an attachment but I am not at that computer. I used HyperSnap you can download from Hyperionics.com. I think you need to use .ico to make it transparent, maybe .cur would also work.

Re: Filtering In and Out

Here attached. - it just took a second so I recreated it.

Hope this helps and is a good solution for you.

The other thing I was going to mention is that you can "cut" a layer (ctrl-x) which saves it temparily in the clipboard. Then you can paste it back in.

Maybe you could use something like a "clipboard manager" which would let you cut multiple layers and then selectively paste them back in.

I would add to this that it is possible to clear the map and
requery a database to plot your pushpins fairly quickly if
you are good with SQL and the MapPoint API.

Re: Filtering In and Out

Hi there!

I do have the same problem, I'd like to show and hide some of my clients when using multiple push pin tool (as I'm working in french, I'm not sure of the exact term, it's the one which display push pins of different colors depending on one criteria).

As I don't have a lot of computer knowledge and not a single skill in programmation, the clipboard manager solution seems the best one for me... I've downloaded 3 of them and each time, it copy the text and totally loose the mappoint format...
Do someone knows where I can find a clipboard manager which works with MapPoint? Any other suggestion for me?

Thx!
