Fixing Printing Problems in MP

A nice tip/trick I found out on my own that I wish had been previously posted to this message board.....

If you right click a map in MapPoint and copy it, then paste it into a Microsoft Word document, the map is pasted as a "clickable" image. You can then group and ungroup (by choosing it from the right click menu) and move the different parts of the image (including parts of the legend) and the map to where you want them to print on a page in MS Word. You can also manipulate the pasted map image using all the MS image tools of contrast, brightness, crop, transparency, etc...

Printing MP Maps through MS Word

This works great!
You get an added functionality by being able to use the MS Word image tools. I especially like the brightness/contrast tool to get the map tp look "just right". Also, the map image can be cropped and then re-zoomed to fit a page. (Some image quality gets lost on large zooms, however)

The steps are: right click a MP map and "copy". Go to MS Word and "paste" the image.

Then you can right click the image and choose from the "grouping", "format picture" or "picture toolbar" options. The "grouping" option allows you to breakout the images in a legend for individual territories, thematic map shades, etc...

Once you select show picture toolbar, look for the icons in the toolbar that allow you to perform the image adjustments.

A past short article mentions the contrast / brightness settings in Word:
