Free Country Shape File Boundaries - Europe

I came across this when searching for some country boundary file to display in MapInfo Pro. Normally I though MapInfo Pro installs a ton of sample data including rough worldwide files, but in the MapInfo 7.0 and MapInfo 8.5 install folders I have in this machine there was nothing.

Anyway, it was surprisingly difficult (took almost five minutes!) to find this site with Google, maybe I should have Binged for it! And thought I would share in case someone else is searching for this.

    Enjoy!

Re: Free Country Shape File Boundaries - Europe

I think there are some restrictions on the CDC EPI data use - but I can't see it being enforcable. Basically, "public domain but only for use with our products" if I remember correctly.

Still, I used some of the Central American outlines for the MapServer implementation on EcoMapCostaRica.com. The data also has first level admin districts, which are useful to make the country outlines a bit more interesting.
