Can anyone recommend a mapping product that would allow me to create a simple route, and then save that route in a format suitable for and legal to submit to a magazine for publication?

I have MapPoint and S&T, but my read is that they are likely not legal for my purpose.

My reading of Google t&c was that if you create a map in Google Earth you are free to use and publish providing you don't crop the Google logo. Maybe also applies to Google maps route plan. I have not checked the equivalent Virtual Earth conditions.
