I have some general questions that I haven't seen answered anywhere.

1. if I build a program using the MapPoint API provided in MP 2006, will that app run on a computer that has only Streets & Trips 2006 installed? If not, is this because MapPoint dlls are missing, and if so can they be packaged with the app without licensing difficulties?

2. Does the MP 2006 API include functionality for reading and writing an .est file understandable to S&T? At what versions of S&T?

1. No and No, you need MapPoint and a real MapPoint license to automate the mapping

2. I don't think MapPoint can be made to write and est file but it can read them. - I would recommend looking into a translator that can write est files directly, also you might try something like WinBatch that could control Streets & Trips to do an import and other prep functions.

Can you suggest such a translator for outputing .est files? I don't know of any myself.
