I want to have a linked-data file (.csv) containing my coordinates info that is placed online, like "http://mappoint.mydomain.com/mapcoords.csv" so I can just link to this in mappoint, so users don't have to download the file all the time. This file is update several times a day.
Is this possible in any way ? Just using the url doesn't seem to work.

What I want is something similar to:

Client.DownloadFile("http://tracker.mydomain.com", "c:\mappoint.csv");

at least that's what I think I need, preferably it would do it automatically every 10min or something like that and then do an "update".
Have looked at COM add-ins but can't find any really good examples and the ones I've tried to create in vs.net2005 doesn't work. Would prefer if I could do it in C#, but if I have to use another language I guess I'll have to live with that

Yes that's exacly how to do. I never used the WebClient in C# but should be something like that. you can do the update every 10 minutes or so with a Timer, eventually compare the file if changed and import it into the MP control.

Well after hours of looking through all the craptastic tutorials and guides I could find for making a COM add-in I finally managed to make my own button that gets and saves the file, yay me

But is there a way I can call the "update linked data"-function when I've clicked my "Get coordinate file"-button ?
This isn't supposed to be a live tracker or anything, but it would be nice only having to press 1 (or maybe 0) button rather than 2

Yes you can. Use the LinkData method to add the data to the map. It returns a dataset. Then after a while when you reload the file you can call the dataset's UpdateLink method and the map will automatically update it.
