I am working on a fleet tracking app for the cab company I dispatch for. This app would involve USB GPS units transmitting periodic position updates via 3G. This info would be used to show car positions on a map (ala VehiclePath), along with showing dispatchers the ETA for the vehicles to pickup locations, and possibly used as a meter system.

I would appreciate any pointers to good low-to-medium level info on working with the ActiveX control. One question in particular - is it possible to pull live GPS position info out of the control, so it can be used as real-time nav in the car and for unit tracking?

Hi,

For unit tracking you can display pushpins at each position of the vehicles. And yes indeed you may check EULA which changes with each version. I think there is also a fleet version of mappoint.
