    Greetings and Hello

New to all of this...I guess we all were at one time. I just received the 2006 version with GPS locator and would like to use it with a Panasonic Toughbook in my vehicle for my GPS "device". Will this be possible? I spend about 70% of my time in a vehicle looking for addresses/locations and I thought the screen size of a laptop would be better than a 4 or 5 inch
GPS unit. I hope that I was right. Any tips/advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all in advance.

    Hi Ron,

I spend about 70% of my time in a vehicle looking for addresses/locations and I thought the screen size of a laptop would be better than a 4 or 5 inch
    GPS unit.
While the 4 or 5 inch personal navigation devices may be just fine for the general public, for you and me and all those who do a lot of mapping work in their cars and trucks there is nothing better than a laptop with some decent mapping software and a USB GPS receiver.

Any tips/advice will be greatly appreciated.
Your 2006 version should be updated to the current 2010 version. Better features, fresher map data, bugs fixed, etc.

I appreciate that very much. Sounds like I'm headed in the right direction, no pun intended. Is the 2010 update as simple as a download from MS?
    Thanks again,
    Ron

They have it in MSDN as a download if you are an MSDN subscriber.. but otherwise I think you have to purchase a physical DVD. Note that there is no Upgrade pricing, the "update" requires a new purchase of the software ~ $299 w/o GPS.
