If anybody could help with this please, I have been beating my head against it for weeks.

I know that MapPoint will not put a starting point of a route on a highway by design. I was trying to figure out if I can make it put the starting point on an exit or an on ramp. For example: I tried this using the map point application , I zoomed to the highway, I found an exit/on ramp there was a white dot there, the dot is clickable and can be set as the starting or end point of a ramp. Here is a picture of what I am talking about

Is there way to find that dot by using the MapPoint API, or any other method.

Hi,

Yes, these are location objects jus as the others. If you try a ObjectsFromPoint near to such a point you will see it show up in the results of it.

Ok , I checked it , But ObjectsFromPoint does not return these in the list of Locations, any other Ideas.

iam given a task to develop a homepage tht shud store maps,store pins with relative positions on maps,mechanism to recreate from database,moving pins and uploading map..
how to do all these things..can i use JSP,J2EE..


pls give some suggetions...plsss..

Hi,

Yes it does. I checked it out with such a point. The point was as in your example a highway entry / exit. It has a number. The number is returned as name in the collection returned from ObjectsFromPoint.

Please start a new thread and use appropriate subject. Your question is nothing todo with the freeway exit problem.

Ok, I will try it again, But this is what I did,

On My form in the beforeClick Event I get the X and Y of the mouse and then click on one of those points, inside the event I do an ObjectsFromPoint call, and loop through the returned Locations, I dont get the number of the point, all I get is the name of the highway. But I will try it again... Thank you for your help.

Your method should work. I tryed it with a position. I still had the code not deleted, so here it is. If you have MapPoint EU you can try the same. It is an hiway exit near Antwerp and the exit number was also listed in the console.

Yeah after looking at it for a while I figured it out, I found out that my problem is this.

I am get my Current Location from a GPS, so the map is allways moving, and I noticed when I approch one of these points it gets skipped, I guessI have to figure out a different way. you see I am trying to make a routing application. I thought if maybe I store the location of these points as I pass them, if I miss a turn I can reroute from the last point I passed and this way MapPoint wont draw that stupid straight line out side the highway to local roads. ( I really hate that we are using MapPoint 06) and microsoft has not fixed the Highway routing Issue. That is crazy. (do you know of a way around that or is impossible to originat a route on a highway.
