| Hi... getting started I need to track bikes, gliders and yachts real-time and replay modes. We have 'played' with various software and hardware combos but to no real advancement - except to know we need to be in more control of tboth the hardware and the software. I'm looking forward to learing (and, one day hopefully being of help to others) on this forum. Way to go... excellent so far... Has anyone tried / heard of the Race-Trax tracking hardware? I figure we need to sort out hardware early on in order to maximise software use etc... Or is there other hardware out there that many of you are aware of ? Certainly the Race-Trax hardware module seems to do all we'll ever need of it - sub-metre, small, light, GPRS and UHF, rugged... etc etc... AND it's available as an OEM board... but I wondered if anyone had experience of this kit. I spoke to some techie chap at Race-Trax (French I think) called Matthieu. Very helpful but... anyway the web site is www.race-trax.com. Be grateful for your experiences... |

Hi jonwhitelaw, Welcome and I hope you find the site useful! There are some real smart guys who hang out here (myself not included ).I'm not familiar with Race-Trax, but I wonder if you need to do it yourself (i.e. pick the hardware, etc.). Would it be sufficient for your purposes to just pay a service that is expert at tracking solutions and have them support you? there are a bunch of companies vehicle tracking - Google Search Eric

Hi Eric, thanks for the response, We've looked at and tried many diufferent vehicle trackers but most are either not accurate enough, not portable (we would like these devices to be placed on a glider today and a bike tomorrow - for monitoring different races etc...), not waterproof or some such... I guess we need a highly specific product for portable tracking of bikes, gliders and yachts etc - but - do it in a real-time way - like the America's Cup tracking solution - thoughI guess this would be VERY expensive... The Race-Trax kit LOOKS good just wondered if anyone had used it / or knew of something similar... Thanks for the response. Cheers. |
