I searched this forum and didn't find much on my dilemna.....

I need my end users to use a mapping software to select all the zip codes that are in someone's territory. I downloaded the MapPoint 2006 trial and it seems to do that really well, but..........

I also need that information (the zip codes and name of the territory) to be stored - or exported - into my Oracle 9 database for use in other programs.

My research seems to say that exporting the zip codes into a file is not an option with MapPoint. Is this still true?

Even if I had a Microsoft database linked (or figured out how to link to an Oracle db) with this information, can MapPoint update or insert these zip codes in the database table??? Or does MP just READ the zip code data? Cause I need MapPoint to UPDATE and INSERT the zip codes for the territories when the user makes changes to the territory boundries.

If MapPoint cannot export the selected territory zip codes to a file or update and insert that information into a database, do you know another mapping program that DOES do this -- and still selects territory zip codes as nicely as MapPoint?

The desktop version of MP can export the zip codes in a territory if the territory is based on zip codes, and it will open in Excel.
To do that you would just select the area you want to export and click on >Data >Export to Excel

You may be better off to have an application that is tied to the db and utilizes MP to view the data
